The Plaza Restaurant (Emlenton Truck Plaza)
I know what many of you are thinking...
Really he is reviewing a hole in the wall like that?
Well you never know where good food will be found.
The Food:
Damn good for the price.
A large burger, fries and a drink cost me $10.90
Pretty damn good.
Best Food Item:
Double Decker Plaza Burger
This thing is just awesome! McDonalds eat your heart out!
Worst Food Item:
Fries
Im sorry this has always been a gripe for me at most restaurants. These things were like mush.
Note:
Every Friday During Lent The Plaza serves all you can eat Fish and Mac N Cheese
Atmosphere:
The Plaza took an interesting lodge type atmosphere and ran with it. And damn does it work!
I have returned to this restaurant many times and that atmosphere is still just awesome!
Service:
Damn good. Our waitress was quick and attentive. Not to mention hilarious.
Final Thoughts:
Damn good and a great value how can you lose?

Applebee's (Butler)
Ah the first of many franchise reviews...
The Applebee's in Butler has been around for about 1 year as this review.
Normally this is enough time for a resturant to get its staff in place and prepare for the long haul.
Well... Let's Take a Look...
Atmosphere:
What can I say? It's Applebee's? Is it good? Yeah but it feels artificial to me. This once again because its a franchise. But other than that it is quite inviting to say the least and for the most part you feel quite welcome.
Food:
Again... Franchise... Yes the food was good but for the price... eh... Not Bad, but could be better. The menu selection was alright but the menu design was atrocious! I have not seen anything that bad since Eat n Park had spiral bound menus! Anyway again not bad... But at these prices you expect better.
As far as the food itself though, yes, it is good. This is an example of a good chain and is almost a golden example.
Which leads me to...
Service:
HOLY SWEET GOD IN HEAVEN WAS SERVICE BAD!
At a time when about 5 tables were full it took us over 45 Mins to get our food.
On top of that out waiter was no where to be found. After you had ran out of beverage and had slowly eaten all your ice cubes and began eating your place mat he would show up, disappear to god knows where for 5 minutes and then come back. Holy Crap That is TERRIBLE.
At one point I did work as a host and I do know that some waiters would sneak out for a smoke.
But wow...
Value:
Right... Horrible! Ok imaging going to a Long John Silvers and marking up all the food by about $6.
Again franchise....
My meal which was 2 Fish Fillets, French Fries, and Applesauce, + Pepsi cost me $18. Oh and did i mention that the fish was one of the cheaper items on the menu?
Also one of the members of my party drank a Miller Lite. COST: $3.75 (EPIC FAIL)
Good Food Item:
Fish Filet - Actually it was damn good and cheaper than almost 90% of the expensive crap on the menu.
Bad Food Item:
Garlic Fries - Oh god they drowned these things in garlic swirl and chucked them onto my plate. You thought regular fries were greasy? Well wait till you try these!
Final Thoughts:
Ok Food and Shitty Service not a Good Restaurant Make

Fortune Star Buffet
Well when I originally heard about the new Chinese place in Butler I was a little skeptical. Why? Well western PA and GOOD Chinese food never really line up. There are more than a few places that sell Chinese but the mom and pop Chinese places never really stack up against the higher end places in say Downtown Pittsburgh. But Fortune Star proved me wrong. First of all notice that that "Chinese" is not in the name. That is a good thing Morning Star Buffet has more than just Americanized Chinese Food.
First off lets talk about the Buffet.
HOLY SHIT! This is the type of selection and price that make your mouth drop open. The Buffet contains a dazzling array of items and if you are that guy in the group who doesn't like Chinese your still in for a treat! beside the General So Chicken there are Chicken Nuggets, beside the Pork Fried Rice there are French Fries, beside the Egg Rolls there are Pizza. Its also one of the only Asian Style Buffets that has soup 4 different kinds too! One of these again is for the faint of heart (Chicken Noodle).
Now once you are blown away by the selection how is the food?
AMAZING!
I must say Fortune Star sets the new golden standard for Asian Food!
Almost everything was so above par!
All of the Chinese Food is amazing. We are talking mouth orgasm amazing.
The American food was hit or miss.
BEST FOOD ITEM: Cheese Dumpling
Holy Crap I LOVE THESE THINGS!
Imagine a cheese danish fresh from the oven! i just explodes awesome cheesy goodness into your mouth!
WORST FOOD ITEM:Cheesecake
Why? well its not cheesecake? Seriously I was with three other people and we couldn't figure out what the hell it tasted like. I said crappy Cheesecake, Another said banana, the third said peanut butter pie. Like I said is truly the most perplexing thing ever. That really frightens me!
NOTABLE ITEM:
Wonderful Chicken
Probably the best fried chicken variation I have ever had!
I tastes like someone took honey and sweet and sour sauce mixed them together and pored it on chicken and fried that in a skillet. Oh god its awesome.
Second how is the atmosphere?
AMAZING! Everything works! You can almost taste Asian Culture in the restaurant! From the walls, to the booths, to the tables it all just fits! Damn Good Work!
Third whats the price?
$7.80 lunch
$10.80 Dinner
Good Right?
FINAL IMPRESSIONS:
Amazing atmosphere and amazing service a large spread of Amazing food and not to mention the excellent service and the price! A must visit for people in Butler County!
